I wondered if MiB had an alt....

I really like the Leafs chances in signing Stamkos. I believe he will be team captain and help Toronto move towards the ultimate goal. The Rychel deal was also excellent, though if you look at CBJ's salary cap now that the Jones deal is done as well as the 6 contracts with no movement clauses, there is no way in the world Rychel could have been protected through the expansion draft. CBJ are in big time cap and expansion trouble and it might be an excellent opportunity to scoop some talent like Murray.

Can I just say that the new logo is just glorious?

The Stamkos situation is a fun one and an exciting one. The rebuild I'm certain will be successful no matter if he comes or doesn't. Getting Matthews got us that #1 center that we desperately needed. But, getting a Stamkos would be insane. A darn elite player who makes the team better immediately and is a symbol of bringing these great young players into Toronto.

It is very much like the Babcock situation. Have these guys sell him on the challenge and the potential value. Stamkos certainly would have the C and the chances to be the guy and captain who brings the Cup back to Toronto (and not just so it can sit in the HHOF). But we'll see what happens.

I like the Rychel trade as well. It's low risk, high reward. We basically gave up very little for someone who doesn't cost much, but could pay off. If he doesn't we haven't really lost much for the attempt. If the problem was mostly bad handling and developing, then we can try to solve that.
